Do you like this?

When readers visit your site, the goal is to keep them clicking beyond the one article or blog post that they have landed on from a search engine like Google or a search of your site. If you do a good job of presenting and linking to relevant content, readers will end up spending much more time on your site before leaving their computer or moving on to other sites.

Assuming that the reader is interested in the content on the current page they’re viewing, they’ll want to check out your other posts and articles on that topic. You should make related content very easy for them to find. Every time a reader clicks her way to another piece of content on your site, that’s another page impression and at least one more ad impression you are generating. These are vital metrics for your advertising staff to attract more online advertisers.

Slideshows

Slideshows: Slideshows are a good user experience as well as a great way to increase page views and, thus, ad impressions. Rather than one page view per article, as is the case when images are embedded in the body text, each slide viewed represents an additional page view.

Related Links

Related Links: By consistently teasing your content throughout your site with related links, you will reap steady gains in the form of more page views which directly increases your number of ad impressions.

Inline Links

Inline Links: Similar to related links, inline links within body text to other content throughout your site keeps users reading. As much as possible, you should link to content within your site and avoid too many links to outside sites. When you do link to outside sites, always make sure the link creates a “new window” so that your site remains open in the reader’s browser.

Tags

Tags: This is an important feature of Metro Publisher that should be utilized for all content types. In short, tag everything! Tags link to topics pages which aggregate all content with the same tag.
