Google Ad Manager is one of the simplest and best of all free of charge online Ad Serving solutions available.

If you haven't already, please read our article Google Ad Manager - The Basics, this article explains the process of settng up an order in Google Ad Manager after your sales team has directly sold online advertising to a client.

The (Insertion) Order

The Order is a contract which details what the advertiser has ordered as part of their ad buy. After this contract has been signed your sales team will create the order in Google Ad Manager.

Line Item

In Google Ad Manager each Order may contain one or more line items. For each line item you need an associated "creative" which is what the actual advertisement (the graphic, rich media video or flash file) is called.

Placements

Placements allow one or more Ad slots to be targeted for delivery of the online advertisements. In this example selecting the placement Samplesite_Leaderboards_728x90_Top_ROS would run an advertisement in the top leaderboard (728 by 90 pixel IAD format) position through out the entire site. ROS is an acronym for "Run-of-Site". In Metro Publisher all content types such as articles, blogs, video articles, have to be assigned to a section or subsection. Correspondingly they than display the advertising assigned to that same section.
